The Delay
Fun to wake up to an email letting you know that your flight that is 12 hours away, is already delayed.
My flight for this trip is dependent on the flight before it that comes from Tokyo, NH12. This plane left about an hour and 20 minutes late, which directly affects my flight.
Now I personally wouldn’t really mind this delay that much, if the landing time wasn’t already very late and I need to get to my hotel to check-in by midnight that night.

Also, it’s snowing on March 16th….
A nice thing about having a Premium Econ. seat with ANA is that you get access to the United Club at O’Hare. Something that the equivalent seat with United doesn’t get.
And I’ll gladly take all the free soda they’ll give me for the next 3 hours.

The Plane
Due to some interesting choices with United’s pricing system, my flight into Tokyo this year will be on All Nippon Airways, or ANA.
The Premium Economy seats I had on one of my United flights last year have spoiled me, I don’t think I can take normal economy for flights this long ever again.
I’ve read around that ANA’s Premium Economy is supposed to be some of the nicest seats and the largest screens on a seat back.
One interesting thing this time as well is my flight happens to be the Pokemon Eevee jet. Though there seems to be more Pikachu branding than Eevee.

This was an unintended development, but we take these. I’m not much of a Pokemon fan, but Eevee and the Eeveelutions are my favorites.
Complete with stewardesses wearing theme outfits and plenty of cameos in the safety video.

One of the things I saw online about ANA’s 777-300ER flights was that they had forward and downward facing cameras that you could watch from your seat screen. Which is super cool and should be a thing on all flights with seat screens.

Just like the United flight last year, they give us way too much food.
For anyone curious about the exact offerings, click here to see ANA’s menu for the flight.
My seat neighbor was lactose intolerant, so I scored a second Haagen-Dazs.

The mid-flight snack (more like midnight snack tbh) was a cheese danish that was 95% bread.
The final meal was thankfully lighter as I had no intentions to eat as much as the first one.

After a quick visit to the restroom and visiting the resident Eevee plush (which they took around in case people wanted to have a picture taken) it was time to land.
Near the end of the flight, we all received an envelope that contained a wooden omamori, novelty boarding page, and whatever the thing with the barcodes is.

The Room
again, not the movie
I finally trundled into my room around 11:30pm, took these pictures, and promptly went to sleep.

Completely standard room with the firmest “mattress” ever. Not complaining, just an observation.
And we are back to a standard unit bath and the beloved Toto washlet.
